Thank You To Kevin Hannah

5th June 2017

Rainhill Rocket Football Club would like to thank Kevin Hannah for his service to the football club.

Kevin became involved at Rockets a number of years ago when his son Will began playing for the club.

Sadly the team folded after their U15 season, and Kevin became the clubs secretary. He sat on the committee for over five years before announcing that he would be stepping down at the end of the season. Kevin helped to oversee huge growth in the club going from five teams to 14 in his time as secretary.

We thanked Kevin at the clubs presentation and presented him with a bottle of champagne.

We would like to wish him the best of luck for the future.

Kate Donnelly, U16 Keeper Retires From Football.

12th December 2016

Rainhill Rockets FC are sad to announce that one of our U16 goalkeepers, Kate Donnelly has been forced to retire from football due to injuries.

She joined Rainhill Rockets FC when the girls team moved in the summer. She picked up a serious injury in the first game of the season, recovered only to get injured again in training. She returned from that injury only to badly dislocate her shoulder in the County Cup game against Tranmere.

Her manager Barry Henshaw said "I have worked with Kate since the U10 age group and have seen her improvement as a goalkeeper season on season. To watch her development has been a pleasure as her coach, and I hope she is able to return to sports some time in the future"

Rainhill Rockets Football Club would like to like to thank Kate for her service to the club and wish Kate all the very best for the future.

Paul was a supporter of the football club, letting us use the pub as a base for meetings, as a venue for our fundraising quiz, providing sandwiches after the annual Christmas Tournament amongst other valuable support.

Paul was a lovely man, and much loved by those who had the good fortune to know him, both personally and in his various roles in the area and he will be missed by all who knew him.

St Helens Council Message Regarding The Kits4Causes Tournament 2015

3rd September 2015

Rainhill Rockets is a club of 14 teams from U7 to mens 1st team and a
junior academy for 4 to 6 yrs
The club was established in 1996 with next year being our 20th Anniversary
The  club philosophy is to be
" more than just a football club"
With this in mind we organise numerous events throughout the year to show
our kids how lucky they are and how together we can help those less
fortunate
We run a Xmas toy appeal and an Easter egg collection the donations are
given to Liverpool HomelessFC who give to families in homeless and domestic
violence hostels and also to Ronald McDonald House at Alder Hey
Then on the August bank holiday we run our
Kits 4 Causes fun day tournament, now in its 3rd year
We let all the kids come together to see they are part of a large club and
to meet each other, they are split up into even teams and play a fun
football tournament with ice creams for all at the end
The families bring in donations of unwanted kits and boots and the club
gives the previous seasons kits , we transport them to the Kits 4 Causes
charity in Birmingham who distribute throughout Africa and the developing
world,
The kit is used as an incentive to gather peoples together to educate on
HIV and other issues
Previous years collections have gone to Tanzania
An additional bonus we discovered is that the charity receives winter
clothes coats and hoodies etc which they don't take to Africa, we return
with these for The Whitechapel homeless project in Liverpool
On the day while we have so many people gathered together we take the
opportunity to raise funds for a worthy charity, last year was for MND
Association through the ice bucket challenge, the then Mayor Geoff Pearl
was great in helping pour the buckets on the managers
This year we raised funds for the Steve Prescott foundation as its a local
charity with an inspirational story and a lot of our players are also Rugby
players mainly at Portico and West Park
This years event was a great success with more kit than ever donated and we
hope to follow a full Rainhill Rockets kit from Rainhill to Africa and see
it on a local team
The Mayor and Lady Mayoress met all the children and were given a
commemorative whistle of the day
There was a nice moment at the end when receiving their ice creams at the
end all the children sat around the mayor and lady mayoress while eating
them

Rockets Make The Papers

27th June 2015

Don't forget, this Saturday, the 29th August, is the annual Rockets Kits 4 Causes tournament.

If anybody has any old football kits that they do not want anymore please contact the club on 07825882378 and we will make sure they get to children who just want to play football in some of the poorest areas of the world.

Busy Day At The Rainhill Gala

25 May 2015

Another Rainhill Gala came and went this week, and another great day of fundraising for the football club.

We had our usual darts stall, where players had to hit three separate stars as usual, but this year we added some small stickers, and if players hit those stickers with one dart they won straight away.

This went down a storm and plenty of players walked away happy with a ball for a prize.

Every player was given a bag of sweets or a lollipop.

We were literally the last stall to be put away, and while most were packed up and gone our stall still had a queue, we were that busy.

Kevin, Lee & Bob had a long but fun day on the stall.

Many thanks to all who came and took part.

Another Successful Presentation Day

17 May 2015

Another successful end of season presentation has passed.

We hope you enjoyed the stilt walkers and freestyle footballers.

Well done to all players and we and we look forward to seeing you all playing for Rainhill Rocket FC next season.
